About the Event

About Scream Queers

Scream Queers is a monthly horror book club at Under the Umbrella on the third Saturday at 1 p.m. Due to the graphic nature of some of the books read by the group, it is an 18+ book club but it otherwise open to all.

Please consider bringing a contribution (sliding scale $1-5) for the meeting room reservation at Under the Umbrella. If $1 a month is a barrier for you, you are still welcome to attend!

COVID Precautions: It is a requirement for both the bookstore and the book club to wear a mask.

About the Book

From international bestseller Thomas Olde Heuvelt comes Echo, a harrowing novel of obsession and the destructive force of nature. Nick Grevers and his climbing buddy Augustin are drawn to the Maudit, a remote mountain peak in the Swiss Alps. Documentation on the mountain is scarce, its slopes are eerily quiet, and when they enter its valley, they get the ominous sense that they are not alone. Something is waiting for them…. Not long after, Nick wakes from a coma to find Augustin dead. Nick’s face is maimed and wrapped in bandages. A long rehabilitation awaits, but Nick soon realizes that it isn’t just the trauma of the accident that haunts him. Something has awakened inside him….
