The Under the Umbrella Artist Gallery is open only to local LGBTQIA2S+ artists.
The artist gallery is primarily an opportunity to spotlight the work of local queer artists, while providing a modest revenue stream to keep the bookstore profitable and sustainable. Our commission fee is 30%, meaning artists retain 70% of the sale. Artists set the price of their work, and may adjust their normal rate to accommodate our commission.
At this time, we can only accept 2D artwork, and all artwork must be installation ready.
There is no deadline to apply, but we review applications in February, May, August, and November for artwork to be displayed January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December.
Before applying, please be prepared to include the following information:
Name*, email, and professional Instagram, portfolio, website, etc.
5-10 sentence artist statement, and an explanation of why you think your artwork is a good fit for Under the Umbrella's gallery.
5-10 images of your artwork, as well as descriptions.
*Legal name may be required for payment, but chosen names will always be used and respected.
Stay tuned for featured artwork.
