About the Event

Utah FAM, in partnership with Dr. Irene Yoon, is providing a space to understand the historical and current policies and laws that impact LGBTq+ inclusion in Utah schools. The change policy landscape can be difficult to understand and track, so this session will help educators and other educational stakeholders better understand how they can support their LGBTQ+ students, families, and staff while ensuring they follow state and district policies and laws.

The session will discuss a recent "research and policy primer" that shares lessons learned from a research review of LGBTQIA-affirming policy and politics in K-12 education. Together, we will take stock of the 2024 legislative session and identify research-based strategies to persist in celebrating and affirming LGBTQIA+ students, educators, and curricular content.

The session will start at 5:30. Feel free to come early to grab something from Umbrella Cafe and mingle.
