About the Event

The LGBTea & Read is a LGBTQIA+ centered book club for 20-30 year olds trying to make new queer friends in the city! Books are focused around different social issues that impact marginalized individuals in our community, such as Abolitionism, Environmentalism, Gender Studies, and more. Join Q, our facilitator, once a month at Tea Zaanti for engaging discussion, a cup of tea, and maybe a treat or two! Discounts on food, drinks (alcohol excluded), and monthly reading selections are proudly offered by Under the Umbrella and Tea Zaanti Cafe.

Please note that this book club meets at Tea Zaanti, NOT Under the Umbrella. Tea Zaanti serves alcohol and does not require masks. Please contact teazaantievents@gmail.com with questions or concerns.

About Abolition. Feminism. Now

Abolition. Feminism. Now. is a celebration of freedom work, a movement genealogy, a call to action, and a challenge to those who think of abolition and feminism as separate—even incompatible—political projects.  In this remarkable collaborative work, leading scholar-activists Angela Y. Davis, Gina Dent, Erica R. Meiners, and Beth E. Richie surface the often unrecognized genealogies of queer, anti-capitalist, internationalist, grassroots, and women-of-color-led feminist movements, struggles, and organizations that have helped to define abolition and feminism in the twenty-first century.
